A Maiden Cruise like no other

It’s almost time! P&O Cruises are chilling the fizz and polishing the flutes aboard Iona, ready to toast her maiden cruise on 7 August. There’s still time to book a place, and you can start looking forward to a host of monumental moments on this special 7 night British Isles holiday.

Dining

As well as jaw-dropping views of Britain’s coastlines, Iona’s maiden cruise will bring you mouth-watering flavours from many of the beautiful places you sail by – from the south coast of Devon, right up to the Scottish Highlands. There are 17 diverse dining venues to choose from, including exciting new options such as The Keel and Cow, The Olive Grove and The Quays. So, you might find yourself tucking into a taste of the Scilly Isles with white crab cakes and Jersey Royal potatoes; Scottish venison served with neeps and tatties; or West Lothian dry aged, grass fed steak. On Celebration Night, a Scottish-themed menu will offer Highland smoked salmon, regional cheeses and Iona whisky fudge among other local delights. And for a wee tipple, you could savour a glass of G&T with Marabelle Gin while chatting to the people who make the special recipe for Iona with flavours inspired by her namesake isle.

P&O Cruises Food Heroes Marco Pierre White and Olly Smith will also join us on board and guests will have the chance to savour flavours from Iona and the surrounding islands in brand-new foodie experiences. And don’t forget Celebration Night – the perfect time to dress up and enjoy a glass of bubbles (on us!), as well as delicious food. From fine dining to modern British or contemporary Indian, different venues around the ship will offer mouth-watering menus on this glamorous evening.

Entertainment

Amazement, delight, inspiration and enchantment – the entertainment during Iona’s maiden cruise promises it all. Guests can Immerse themselves in a world of vibrant music and colour in the Headliners Theatre or marvel at the acrobatics and aerial wonders premiering from international entertainment company Creativiva.

One of pop’s greatest vocalists, Tony Hadley, will perform live and comedian and TV star Joe Pasquale is the man to go and see for a side-splitting stand-up set. If guests head to The Limelight Club, they could catch a cabaret set from revered singer and performer La Voix, whilst the sea-shanty-singing fishermen Sea Hear are also on board with their catchy tunes that guests will be humming along to for the rest of the day.

Witness Iona's glittering homecoming

One of the most unforgettable parts of Iona’s maiden cruise will surely be her homecoming celebration. At lunchtime on day three of the holiday, she’ll drop anchor just off the coast of her namesake island and the festivities will truly begin. Themed activities and entertainment will run throughout the afternoon and evening, and your customers can expect exciting performances from VIP guests. Finally, as a fitting end to this momentous day for the history and the future of cruising, the darkened sky will come alive in a dazzling fireworks display – just for the locals, crew and guests of the two Ionas. And, after the last flash of colour, guests might choose to stay out on deck or their balcony to admire the beautiful Hebrides sky – a renowned spot for stargazing.

So, will you soak up the scenery while sipping a G&T made with Marabelle Gin, the craft recipe made exclusively for P&O Cruises? Perhaps you’ll admire the panoramas while relaxing in the stunning SkyDome or Grand Atrium, or during a dip in the Infinity Pool? Wherever you choose to take it all in, a breath-taking vista will always be close by.
